Miss North Carolina 2015, Erika Taylor

Erika Taylor is a native of Fayetteville, NC, but her hometown roots lie in the heart of rural NC–Bladenboro, NC, home of the “Beast of Bladenboro.”
Erika is 26 years old and a 2011 graduate of the country’s first public university, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Upon graduation, Erika moved back to Fayetteville and began working in nonprofit; first with the March of Dimes Foundation as Community Director of the Cape Fear Division and most recently, as Event & Volunteer Coordinator with the Partnership for Children of Cumberland County, Inc., a local Smart Start early childhood agency. Erika’s professional background makes her uniquely qualified to promote and serve her personal platform, “From Prenatal to Pre-K,” which merges the missions of these two agencies in an effort to ensure all babies are born healthy and prepared to succeed.
Currently, Erika is concentrated on her role as Miss NC International and seeks to bring her platform work to Greenville, NC and East Carolina University in the fall of 2015, where she will be pursuing her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. A lifelong dream that will enable her to impact the lives of even more children and families in North Carolina.
As for community efforts, Erika has tirelessly devoted her time to philanthropic service, believing that it is ones civic duty to give back. Over the past four years, Erika has served as: a Fayetteville Regional Chamber Ambassador, a member of the Junior League of Fayetteville’s Board of Directors, a member of the March of Dimes Cape Fear Division Board of Directors, a member of the Junior League of Fayetteville’s Holly Day Fair as Publicity Chair-in-Training and Publicity Chair, Chair of the Fayetteville March for Babies Family Team Committee, a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland County Garden Party Steering Committee, a member of the March of Dimes Signature Chef’s Auction Logistics Committee, a member of the Fayetteville Urban Ministry’s Black and White Gala Planning Committee, a member of the UNC-Pembroke Infant Mortality Task Force, a member of Southeastern Health Foundation’s Advocates Committee, as Co-Club Leader of the Cumberland County Carolina Club, and as Director of the Dublin Peanut Festival Scholarship Pageant held in Dublin, NC. In fact, in 2014 Erika was recognized by the Fayetteville Observer as one of the Southeast’s Top 40 Under 40 Young Professionals, making her the youngest receipt in the award’s history.
Erika enjoys serving the Lord, those around her, her state and her community. She also loves to perform vocally, meet new people, travel down country roads with the top down, spend time with friends and family, golf and take in the simple beauties of life.
